To obtain a divorce in Jamaica, you must:

  1. Be a citizen of Jamaica, domiciled in Jamaica, or a resident at least 12 months prior to commencing your petition.
  2. Be married for at least two (2) years.
  3. Must have been separated for at least 12 months.
  4. Have an original copy of the Marriage certificate.

The Purchaser pays:

  • Attorney’s professional fees
  • Deposit: Usually 10% of sale price
  • Bank fees (where applicable)
  • Cost of Valuation Report
  • Cost of Surveyor’s ID Report

Vendor Pays:

  • Transfer Tax: 2% of sale price
  • Real Estate Agent’S Commission
  • Attorney’s professional fees

Costs split between vendor and Purchaser:

  1. Stamp Duty
  2. Costs for preparation of Agreement for Sale
  3. Miscellaneous Fees- Letters of possession, etc.
  4. Registration Fee
